Due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the commercial flights to and from India are currently disrupted. Airlines are having to reroute flights avoiding Pakistan air space which is now closed. This is forcing the airlines to carry extra fuel or in some cases certain carriers suspending their flights.
Due to the above airline issues, this has resulted in a cargo backlog.
This has also affected the freight market with airlines accepting cargo on express rates but now with longer transit times.
It is not clear when the air space situation will be resolved. We will provide further updates as the situation develops.
