Aluminum Licensing for Import Products

The effective date of March 29, 2021 is delayed, a new date to be published

In December 2020, under the previous administration, the U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) published in the Federal Register information regarding the creation of the Aluminum Import Monitoring and Analysis (AIM) system and established a website to that effect.

In January 2021, however, the incoming administration decided to review this action and announced that implementation would be delayed until March 29, 2021.

On March 27, 2021, Commerce announced that it will again delay implementation. A notice to this effect will be published in the Federal Register shortly, along with additional information and a revised effective date.
