Hurricane Ida made landfall last night as a category 4 storm and has done major damage to the Port of New Oleans and surrounding areas. Much work is being done to assess damage and determine how long it will take to get back to normal operating conditions. At this point we know the following:
New Orleans terminal facilities will not be operating today as officials work to restore power and operational capability. It is uncertain how long this will take and we are awaiting carrier decisions on possible vessel diversions.
Mobile gates will be closed today and are projected to be operational by Tuesday, August 31st.
The storm has weakened to a tropical storm but is tracking north over the Appalachians and could bring some severe rain and winds to some East Coast terminals later this week.
We will continue to monitor any changes in vessel schedules or port diversions to take appropriate actions on entries files/bookings made at ports that might be bypassed. We will keep you advised of any anticipated changes. Please don't hesitate to contact us about specific shipments.
