U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) provided guidance on the announcement of additional steel derivative products which are now subject to Section 232 duties. Effective June 23, 2025, a 25 percent ad valorem tariff, increased by an additional 25 percent (except for the UK), applies to new derivative products in HTSUS Chapters 84, 85, and 94.

Newly added items include various appliances like refrigerators, dryers, washing machines, dishwashers, freezers, cooking appliances, food waste disposals, and welded wire rack. Duties are reported under specific Chapter 99 HTS numbers:

  • 9903.81.91: 50% ad valorem duty on steel content for all countries except the UK.
  • 9903.91.98: 25% ad valorem duty on steel content for the UK.
  • 9903.81.92: 0% duty for products processed from U.S.-melted and poured steel.

These duties apply to goods entered or withdrawn from warehouse on or after June 23, 2025, including those granted “privileged foreign status” in FTZs before that date. No drawback is available for these duties. Further guidance on steel content reporting is available in CSMS #65236374 and FAQs.
