On May 12, 2025, The White House published details on a joint statement between the United States and China regarding their economic and trade relationship, acknowledging its importance to both countries and the global economy. Reflecting on recent discussions, both nations committed to reciprocal actions by May 14, 2025, including temporarily reducing certain additional duties on imports for an initial 90-day period while maintaining a 10 percent rate. Furthermore, China agreed to suspend or remove non-tariff countermeasures implemented since April 2, 2025. Following these steps, a mechanism will be established for continued dialogue between designated high-level representatives to address relevant economic and trade issues. An additional Fact Sheet was also published and may be found here.
