CSMS # 69326983 – GUIDANCE: Section 301 Forced Labor Import Duties
Special calculations apply to goods from the European Union, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Switzerland. For these countries, the new Section 301 duty may be reduced or eliminated depending upon the product’s existing Most-Favored-Nation duty rate. The tariffs generally apply to all products of the affected countries, unless the merchandise qualifies for a stated exemption.
See this document for the Chapter 1 to 97 HTSUS classifications, which correspond to the Chapter 99 headings.
Importers should review the country of origin and tariff classification of upcoming shipments immediately to determine whether the new duty or an exclusion applies.
Due to this demanding amount of updating software systems, both CBP’s and industry vendors’, it has already been identified it will take an unknown amount of time to have this completed and working. We are staying close to our vendor and CBP updates to provide further updates.
